About This Site

In 1969, Pope Paul VI announced "a new rite of the Mass: a change in a venerable tradition that has gone on for centuries."* Half a century later, Catholics vaguely realize that the Mass used to be in Latin, but what was the "venerable tradition," and why is it seeing a revival today?

In these pages I hope the reader will find answers to those and other questions concerning our Western liturgical heritage. In case the reader is interested in my "affiliation," the parish of which I am a member is canonically recognized and in good standing with the local Archdiocese and with the Holy See. Opinions expressed here are my own unless otherwise noted.
